Play Baccarat Online

Baccarat is a game that dates as far back as the Middle Ages. The game has its origins in Italy and then it was quick to find a home in France amongst the French Aristocracy. The game was eventually updated into the game we know and love today once it found its way into Great Britain. After Great Britain, it was passed on to South America, and eventually it made its way to the U.S. The Dunes Casino introduced Baccarat into U.S. mainstream in the late 1950’s and now it has made a final assent to the Internet through online casino websites.

The first thing that you should know before beginning a game of Baccarat is the basic layout of the Baccarat Table. There are only three different bets involved in the game (the Player, Banker and Tie), and the board reflects just that. There are seven numbered positions on each side of the Baccarat Table for up to 14 players. These numbers go from one to fifteen, skipping over the number thirteen. This is done because the number thirteen is considered unlucky and is left out of most tables in games of luck, and Baccarat is defiantly about luck.

Each of the 14 betting positions at a table has three betting areas to go along with it, representing each of the possible wagering choices of each game. The word “Banker” is spelled out across one row of betting areas, and below that the word “Player” is spelled out. Just above these two betting areas, there is a central area for tie bets where the player can be on both the banker and the player ending up with the same amount of points as  a tie.

Playing Baccarat

Baccarat is both easy to play and easy to learn. The rules of the game are very simple, and once you have learned the basics of the game, you will find yourself becoming completely comfortable at a Baccarat Table. First things first, as the player, you are given three bets to choose from; the Banker’s Hand (to win), the Player’s Hand (to win) or you may choose to bet that there will be a Tie between the Banker’s Hand and the Player’s Hand. After you have made you bets, both you and the Dealer are dealt two cards. Now that the cards are on the table, you need to know that the object of the game is for your two card hand to be as close to 9 as possible or at least closer to 9 than the Dealer’s hand depending on how you bet.

To figure out the value of your hand, you must know the following rules: Face cards, as well as Tens, counts as Zero points. Aces are worth 1 point while the rest of the cards are worth their face value (so, if you have an five card, it is worth five points). One more thing to remember when it comes time to add up your score is that there is no such thing as “busting” in Baccarat as there is in Blackjack. In case your hand’s total value is a number containing two digits, you would always drop the first digit. For example, if you are dealt a 10 and a 7, your hand’s total would be 17, so you would drop the 1 and your hand’s value would then be 7. If the total of your first two cards equals either 8 or 9 the hand is declared a ‘natural’ and wins automatically, unless, of course, there is a tie between two naturals. If neither hand shows a natural with the first two cards, another card is drawn for each hand to determine who wins.
